About Our Firm
Michael Matthew Guerra
Michael M. Guerra was born and raised in McAllen, Texas, where he currently resides with his wife and three children. He is a sixth generation South Texan. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. While at Texas A&M he was a member of the Corps of Cadets and served in several leadership positions, including serving as a "Redpot" for the massive student bonfire project. He also worked for the Texas A&M University System as a legislative liaison in Austin during the legislative session.
Mr. Guerra received his law degree from Texas Southern University in Houston, Texas in 1993, and was an American Jurisprudence Award recipient in Constitutional law. Mr. Guerra is certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in Personal Injury Trial Law. He was co-counsel for the Plaintiffs in an oilfield related case Styled Coria et al., vs. Key Energy et al. that was named one of Texas Lawyer's "Top Verdicts and Settlements of 2000." Mr. Guerra was also co-counsel for hundreds of plaintiffs in the mass environmental contamination case styled Linn-Faysville Aquifer Preservation Association, et al. vs. Republic Waste Industries Inc., et al. Michael was in the national spotlight as a key member of the plaintiffs' trial team in the first Firestone tire/Ford Explorer case to reach a jury. Recently, Michael was co-lead counsel for the plaintiffs in a residential fire case that settled for a confidential sum considered to be historic in nature. Additionally, Michael's efforts have brought about countless life altering, and life improving case resolutions for his clients. For example, due in part to his efforts, an automotive manufacturer has initiated a recall of a dangerous fuel system, potentially saving future vehicle occupants from injury and/or death from post collision fuel fed fires. Mr. Guerra is licensed to practice in the state courts of Texas and the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas. He is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA); Attorney Information Exchange Group (AIEG); The American Trial Lawyers Association (ATLA); The Texas Trial Lawyers Association (TTLA) and was a member of the TTLA Advocates Board of Directors, South Texas Trial Lawyers Association, the State Bar of Texas, and the Hidalgo County Bar Association. Outside of the practice of law, Michael has been on numerous civic boards and community endeavors, including coaching football and soccer, being a member of the board of trustees for the Museum of South Texas History. He has also been a life member of the Texas Agriculture Lifetime Leadership program and currently, a member of the board for the McAllen Pregnancy Center. Mr. Guerra is fluent in Spanish.
